Indian Education System : Let's shape it

Good advice is always certain to be ignored, but that's no reason not to give it.
                                                                                      By Agatha Christie

This is one of the things that I wanted to write from long back and per my opinion it should be matter of at most important for any educated person of India. Today in this article I would like  focus on reminding people about the importance of education and educational departments  no matter those are government related or privately held.

Whatever we are today is only because the level of education that we have, other than Jobs and money education adds lot many dimension to our life, one can easily distinguish an educated and uneducated person. Respect, honesty, integrity, values and so many useful things which are foundation of well being comes from very basic education that we get from various teachers and institute. Educational institute are known for the quality education they provide, education and values are their product. To make any quality product you have to engineered it very well otherwise you wont be able to use it or sell it, Teachers and facilities are the backbone of the institute and they are engineers  who shape students, they guide them to live with values and character. With all these explanation it is pretty simple to understand that Teachers are most important personalities for country  then why our teachers are very ignored.  It is very sad but true.  There are N number of factors which are responsible for this condition. I would be chalking out few suggestible narratives at the end of this article which i think can make some difference if implemented properly.

If you go to any government school you will find that teachers are taking any interest on teaching students they are always busy on doing administrative work and directly or indirectly government or their schemes encourages them to do so. You may have seen all the government employees are very well used by state governments for election, health care initiatives and so on. Teachers are unable to pay attention on students and their progress. Teachers should be given enough time to teach students without any extra work which they are bounded to do these day.

One main problem with the schools and college specially which are regulated by governments are monitoring. Government hardly monitor it and so teachers on this schools never take their job seriously.
Who suffers : Students as they are not getting proper education and parents as they are not getting what they are entitled to.
Who is responsible: In all the community there are groups formed which are local and they are made with intention and hope that they will be monitoring the performance and they will bring it to administration notice if something goes wrong or going wrong. Their responsibility doesn’t ends here they are also responsible to participate in every meeting with the school staff to voice their concerns. So its we who are responsible its our duty to make sure that our child is getting good education without any break.

Solution; Educating the local people and parents about there responsibility towards, this should be done by higher authority of state education department in every quarter. Complete auditing should be done by officers to make sure effective functioning of this model.

Strategic vision; Empowering parents and member of school association to address the issues they are facing, engaging them in giving and taking feedback. Eventually this will build an atmosphere where all the school staffs will understand that they are accountable.

Another thing which is responsible for slowing down Indian education system is lack of performance linked pay there should be something called “Special benefits to teacher” and that should be performance linked for sure and for effective regulation in this area, there should be authority at the par of other administrative services like we have for IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS, there should be some regulating authority which is at the par with other top civil services say ITS(Indian teaching Services) or IEDS(Indian Educational Services) kind of thing which can give teachers a very special environment where they can feel proud of their job and they can serve with dignity, if this happens it will empower the teachers and resources which are directly or indirectly associated with the education department, this will surely change the way we conduct educational activity for the students and eventually we will be able to compete with the international schools which are way costly and operating at our country with the so called name “International School”.  This authority should be responsible for entire administration for the education department at national level.

Another feather in the black hat of Indian education system is this -- which is probably very serious and that's about the direction and guidance to child, this has come up with the research that most of the child has accepted what they re doing is just because they were not aware, lack of awareness was the prime motive to get into what they got into. How many parents educate their children what IIT and what IIM is, what are the other dimensions that one can add in their career, there is a notion that engineering and medical fields are the best fields to go with but that’s not true, there are several others where candidates can do better than what they are doing in  the field where they entered forcefully but not as per their will.

Solution: Career counseling after every 3 years focusing on which subject is related with which field and what kind of opportunity it leads towards. This the only way student will feel more connected with his future will  be able to control it in a planned manner.

Strategic vision: Students would be able to identify the importance of the subjects that they are studying, currently what they know is what they are studying is to pass the exams and hence is doesn’t contribute to long term goals of education and job. This will change the orientation of the student towards higher education not exponentially but eventually.

There are N number of constructive alternatives available for enhancing the building a better education system but it’s a very sad truth that beside all developments the field which is foundation of all other Industrial and economic expertise is ignored wisely. I hope our government would learn something from leading countries and will implement it here without compromising the Indian cultures and values.

Mobile Message Organizer

Got a basic requirement that i think every mobile should have, all the mail clients have this facility and i dont see any big difficulties on this other than the storage problem which is not a problem at all as we got GB of spaces in our memory cards. Well i am talking about the organizing the messages in Inbox , categorization of messages. Suppose i want to store all the messages from one of my friend say A in a folder called Personal, my existing mobile device Nokai E71 doesn't have this feature inbuilt (Ofcourse if you want you can make a folder and move the messages manually but here i am talking about the idea of automating this procedure). Only thing we need to do is , we have to store the rules in separate location , rules will be defined by the user and then device will follow these rules. There are no or very less software available which satisfy this requirement for mobile device.this is so simple but basic requirement as per the end user. I am going to make this one ...

Interview : Shiv Khera

Winning as a way of life Shiv Khera, motivational expert, speaker, consultant and author of three best-selling books, does not necessarily speak about new things. His subject is human life – the individual vis-à-vis society, and how the two can win. But it is the use of the right word at the right time in the right context in simple, evocative terms that sets him apart. Rajeev Nair met him in Dubai Charged – that is one word to describe the infectious persona of Shiv Khera, the motivational expert, hot in demand in the US professional circles to turn around company fortunes and develop the man power base. The Indian has been a US-resident for nearly three decades but hasn’t relinquished his Indian citizenship; he even contested the general elections from Delhi.
