At first I would like to make it clear that neither I got much chance to interact with the police (By the grace of GOD...as most of the Indians think) nor I have been in the police station excluding few incidents. I can recall once I was there for my Passport verification and once with my friend, He had to place an FIR for his already lost sim card, both of the time we had a very bad experience with the way policeman was interacting. Indian Police is doing very good now a days because good professionals are taking interest in this area but because of few , Police is well known because of its anti public attitude and corruption with added flavor of laziness. There arrogant behavior resists them to take their issues into police station and they take law in their hands.
By leaving the things like corruption in Police department I am just proceeding with those fundamental points which decides and responsible for comfort of communication between the citizen and Police.
The way a policeman interact and the language they use during interrogation is not good and sometime can be considered as out of the manner. I am highly impressed with the British way of interrogation. Why this kind of incidents happens and why most of the person did not have a smooth experience with police men,
The appraisal system in the Police department is very loose. Media too expose the wrong things more and the good things less about the department of police and their employees or any incident related to that. The junior level of staff in police station should be very polite and intelligent enough to understand the personality and traits of the victims they should have capability of understanding the difference between the normal person and criminal at least unto it is not proved that he/she is criminal.
Normal Excuse: A Police man in his duty hours interacts with people which are from different criminal background. And his body language and the way he/she interacts is biased by that.
Possible Solution: Why government does not take any initiative to train them for interpersonal skills. Which will be helpful for the interrogation in terms of understanding the personality also and people will come forward and they will feel comfortable to share their issues with them. I am sure that it will take time and may not be very good but will not be worse than today.
Way of interrogation of Indian Police is very critical:
One must search about the Police brutality case in India, Police bestiality, legal and official corruption in India today is not less. Indian police are doing great in many areas like crime prevention and detection. But there are so many cases in the society which are not being brought to the notice of the police officials yes they are small but every big things start from the small steps only.
To cut it short our police has the same attitude as they had in colonial times when the Brits allowed the police to beat Indians mercilessly and the same continues to this date but our secular people have no time to raise questions about police reforms but to publish articles after article.
